First-generation NVIDIA graphics solution Maxwell became processor GM107, which is used in the GeForce GTX 750 and GeForce GTX 750 Ti.
In the next incarnation Maxwell GPU hardware will support the codec H.265. The latter can work with video resolution reaches 8K (8192 x 4320 pixels) and offers more efficient compression algorithms compared to previous solutions.
Note that there is a competitor to H.265 - developed by Google open standard VP9. Its capabilities comparable to those of H.265, and NVIDIA is one of the partners of Google, announced its readiness to implement VP9 in their future products. Thus, the new GPUs Maxwell may receive support of both formats.
