Game consoles last generation - Xbox One and PlayStation 4 - have 8 GB of RAM. Part of this amount is reserved for the needs of the operating system, developers can distribute the rest between computing and graphic blocks on their own. Is it enough to have 8GB of RAM?
As stated by a senior Crytek, Sean Tracy, developers today can easily find use all eight gigabytes, and in future games may need more memory. Tracy is convinced that one little processing power, and in the future to create complex, dynamic graphic scenes 8 GB of RAM is not enough.
Thus, the advantage consoles Xbox One and PlayStation 4 could be their fault. Hardware limitations, however, are often forced programmers to use different optimization techniques and engineering tricks, so 8GB will probably remain sufficient volume in the foreseeable future.
