In the coming years, according to the representative of Micron, the average memory capacity of all electronic systems of the car will increase three to four times, at least. For example, if the most advanced models of cars are now limited to 2-4 GB of RAM, then in three years this figure can increase to 16 GB. And if we talk about solid-state storage devices that get better in automotive systems due to resistance to vibrations and extreme temperatures, the average volume of automotive SSD can increase to 1 TB. This is especially true for "robots", but even more primitive models with the "manual control" function will inevitably increase the amount of memory.
Since Micron controls 40% of the market for memory chips for automotive systems, such growth prospects are very encouraging. The only thing to be reconciled with is the long life cycles of products that stretch for decades. Sometimes it forces the memory manufacturer to keep part of the capacity for nominally obsolete products, which only automakers need. Micron in this segment is the largest supplier - the closest competitor controls only 20% of the market.
