Prospects for the smartphone market continues to remain strong, despite a slight slowdown in the developed countries. This is indicated by analysts from firm IDC, which this week also released updated forecasts for the market of tablets and PCs .
IDC, said that this year the smartphone market will grow by almost a quarter. To be precise, the analysts predict annual growth at 23.8%. This year, sales of smartphones around the world will make 1.25 billion against 1.01 billion copies in the past year. Looking ahead, analysts predict that in 2018 global smartphone shipments will reach 1.8 billion units.
Analysts point out that the main role in the development of the smartphone market will play a developing country, which accounts for over 50% of annual supply smartphones since 2011. If we consider the developed and developing regions separately, the smartphone shipments this year in the first case, amount to only 4.9%, whereas in the second case the same period will be at the level of 32.4%.
In 2014, as expected, the emerging markets will be sold for a total of 920.8 million smartphones, of which 88.4% are devices on the platform Android. Thus, these regions have 73.5% of the total volume of shipped smartphones.
The analyst pointed out that the Internet giant Google has received a large share of the emerging markets, with the support of more than 150 manufacturers of mobile devices.
