Oculus VR company keeps secret its plans to launch a consumer version of a virtual reality helmet Oculus Rift. But our colleagues from TechRadar has learned that a test version of the headset will be released in 2015.
Sources familiar with the situation told the newspaper that before launching the final version of the helmet Oculus plans to conduct beta testing with interested users, as was the case with the Google Glass. This should happen as early as April 2015. But it is possible that the release of a limited number of Oculus Rift will be moved to the summer. Apparently, Oculus wants to assess the interest of consumers and retailers to the new product before its official launch on the market.
By the way, recently co-founder of Oculus VR Nate Mitchell reported that the cost of a consumer model of the helmet will be $ 200-400. The other founder of Lucky Palmer also stated that the final version will get a helmet display with a resolution higher than 1080p and with increased frequency sweep personnel.
