The South Korean company Samsung Electronics is competing with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for an order for the production of next-generation SoC platforms Apple.
Samsung expects to receive an order for the release of processors Apple A9. Also, the Korean company offer Apple production of other components, including flash memory for mobile devices.
Samsung is the only manufacturer of A-series chips for mobile devices Apple. But now most of the orders for release SoC A8 performs Taiwanese company TSMC, whose contract with Apple entered into in 2013. And TSMC recently said it plans to start mass use FinFET technology and output at 16-nanometer process technology in the second or third quarter of 2015. As expected, the future A9 processor will be made using the process of FinFET, while the A8 is produced by a 20-nm process.
