In the fourth quarter 2008 intel will present in the desktop segment Bloomfield quad processors  LGA 1366, which will be equipped with a three channel DDR-3 memory controller . This will be the first representatives of Nehalem architecture in the desktop segment, but because of its high cost, they will coexist with Penryn generation processors. Meanwhile, there was no information about Nehalem generation processors, which sooner or later will replace the generation of available Penryn processors in the same price niches. Now we only have  to identify the architectural characteristics and the announcement time of these processors. eh In the fourth quarter 2008 will appear Bloomfield processors LGA 1366, which merged in a single crystal four core with the support of Hyper-Threading technology, which will bring the number up to eight virtual core. Cache will be multilevel, in the last level it will be equal to 8 MB . The Integrated in CPU memory controller will be able to work with three channel DDR-3. QPI bus Controller   (formerly CSI) will be designed for connecting the processor to the north bridge, and the connections between the processors . In principle, QPI is designed to solve a long-standing problem with Intel limited bandwidth with the shared FSB . Systems based on Bloomfield processor will use the south bridges series ICH10 witch will appear in next spring ( Eaglelake chipset family ). In future, Intel will leave the dual chip layout since the north bridge will move in the processor, and on the motherboard will run only the south bridge and the processor connector. As in the case of Conroe / Penryn, cell core will be the basis for appropriate desktop processors. Let us begin with quad processor: Lynnfield -> desktop, 45 nm, the first half of 2009, LGA 1160; Clarksfield-> mobile, 45 nm, in 2009, mPGA 989. Dual processors  will receive the following code names: Havendale-> desktop, 45 nm, the first half of 2009, LGA 1160; Auburndale-> mobile, 45 nm, in 2009, mPGA 989. Note that the desktop processors Lynnfield and Havendale are different from Bloomfield design: LGA 1160 instead LGA 1366. These processors will not support QPI , which in the mass desktop segment is simply not needed. In addition, the integrated memory controller will support only two channel DDR-3 instead of three. Thus, Bloomfield remain fairly specific product, targeted at the most demanding enthusiasts. Regarding Lynnfield processor , they can get four virtual processor , as well as the shared 8 MB cache volume  (in the second level). The memory controller will support two channels DDR-3. The chipset Ibexpeak will get some additional  feature . This chip will provide the interface with the analog output for audio and video through a special AMC, USB support 14 ports, six SATA ports, eight lines PCI Express x1, uncertain number of PCI slots, as well as some other features. Dual core Havendale processor will be linked to Ibexpeak through DMI interfaces and Display Connect. The latter is intended for the transmission of digital signals at the codecs involved in the preparation of sound and images for output on analog interfaces. Havendale Processors  receive 4 MB shared second-level cache and dual-controller DDR-3. The Integrated graphical core located in the same package with the processor, but on different crystals. If necessary the processor will be able to work with discrete graphics card equipped with interface PCI Express x16. Multi chip layout will both reduce risks when formulating processor with integrated graphical core , as well as reduce the cost of such decision. Havendale processors with integrated graphical core will appear in the first half of 2009, they will be compatible with LGA 1160. Related Products :
