While automobile giants only make plans for the implementation of automatic control systems of vehicles, some of their elements already enter the serial model. The automatic parking has ceased to be exotic and automatic braking proposed even mid-priced cars. Moreover, some car manufacturers promise to make it a standard attribute of all new models in the near future.
As reported by the British Mirror resource ArsTechnica, spent by European experts on road safety Euro NCAP study suggests that the use of automatic braking on car production allows by 38% to lower probability of collision with the vehicle located in front of the car. The authors used the accumulated in Europe and Australia Statistics accidents in which one vehicle runs into the back of another.
Statistics Euro NCAP representatives seemed convincing enough to recommend a system of automatic braking in widespread use. Moreover, soon a car without such a system will not be able to receive the highest rating for safety technique Euro NCAP. Existing systems use data from various sources (radar, sensors and cameras) to determine risk of collision with an obstacle when driving at speeds up to 50 km / h.
