Researchers from the University of Tsukuba created sonar glove with tactile feedback that lets you "feel" underwater objects located at a distance. The present invention may be useful in cases where the underwater visibility is limited, such as during floods.
The base of echolocation gloves and tactile feedback is provided by the water injected into the glove. The closer arm with the glove is to any underwater object, the more water is pumped into the glove, and the person feels more pressure on the fingertips.
At the heart of the gloves is an ultrasonic sensor MaxBotix MB7066, which processes the data from the controller Arduino Pro Mini. This chip also controls the water pressure in the glove. Water is pumped from the environment by means of three small pumps through tubes and enters the fingertips. Now glove allows you to locate objects under water up to 60 cm, but scientists are working to increase the range.
The creators believe the device, it can be useful in rescue operations in the waters during flooding of residential buildings and other emergency situations.
