ARM company announced a new computational core Cortex-A32-based architecture ARMv8-A, based on the use of embedded and wearable electronics. This solution has been optimized in terms of energy consumption and complements the previously submitted Cortex-A35. The pair replaces outdated Cortex-A7 and Cortex-A5 on the base of the previous architecture generation .
The core Cortex-A32 only supports 32-bit computing, but ARM has worked seriously on increasing their efficiency. So, the new core 25-30% higher than its predecessor and 10% - in the face of Cortex-A35. The encryption operations performance increase of more than tenfold.
Cortex-A32 also took the title of the smallest core ARM architecture in Cortex-A35 - less than 0.25 square millimeters. Size reduction is due primarily to the cuts in part, responsible for the execution of 64-bit instructions. The core Cortex-A32 can be combined in clusters of up to four units, licensees can even adjust the amount of cache memory, if necessary: 8 to 32 KB on the first level, and up to 1 MB on the second level.
