Bloomberg reported how the British holding company is operating under the wing of the Japanese Softbank corporation, which forms a multimillion-dollar investment fund for the development of artificial intelligence and robotics. The ARM quarterly report is now a section of the relevant Softbank documentation, but the main changes can still be traced. First of all, in the second quarter ARM entered into new licensing agreements in the field of developing processors with 41 clients.
In a quarterly comparison, revenue increased from $ 409 million to $ 428 million, but it was not possible to avoid losses of $ 62 million. Partly, the losses are due to the increase in the number of ARM personnel by 6.8% (330 people), as well as by the reform of the wage system. Now its size depends more on the results of the activities of a particular specialist. Changes should motivate employees to actively develop solutions for segments of artificial intelligence, augmented reality and machine vision. These are the areas where ARM under the wing of Softbank concentrates its resources.
