DirectX 12 is slowly but surely beginning to be introduced in game. A few hours ago by a special patch (version 1.0.638.6) support for the latest Microsoft's API has been added in the PC-version Rise of the Tomb Raider. The patch should install automatically via Steam.
As we remember, the main difference from its predecessors DirectX 12 is a low-level access to computing resources, allowing a much more evenly distributed load between cores.
The developers have also published two screenshots: first - when using DirectX 11, the second - DirectX 12. The frame rate with the same graphic settings (although the screenshots are not very successful) in the case of DirectX 12 have reached the desired 60 f / s, whereas the DirectX 11 result up to 46 / s. Apparently, the authors specifically used an extremely low resolution, to game performance depends on the CPU and not the graphics card.
In addition, a new patch adding special technology shading VXAO from NVIDIA. It is argued that today it is the most advanced shading technology in real time.
