IDC analysts made changes to forecast for volume shipments of smartphones this year. If earlier they expected that by the end 2016 worldwide shipments of smartphones will increase by 5.7% compared with last year, they are now predicting 3.1 percent growth in deliveries to 1.483 billion units.
IDC predicts that in 2016 smartphone shipments will amount to 1.483 billion copies, and in 2020 they will reach 1.84 billion units. Analysts expect Android-smartphone will continue to dominate the market, while iPhone shipments will decline by 2% this year. Back to iPhone supply growth in the near future it will be possible thanks to Apple's software trade-in, as well as the recent launch of the 4-inch smartphone iPhone SE.
At the end of 2016 the share of smart phones with the Android operating system on board will be 83.7%, and by 2020 it will increase to 85.1%. During the same period, iPhone's market share will decrease from 15.3% to 14.5%. As for Windows-smartphones, their shipments this year will be reduced by 61.1% compared to the previous year, and by 2020 their market share will be only 4%.
IDC analysts noted that shipments of smart phones with large screens (or PHABLET ) will show double-digit growth, and only in 2020 will be reduced to 9.2% in the coming years. The average retail price of PHABLET this year is $ 383, whereas conventional smartphones are an average of $ 263. Related Products :
