Samsung is preparing to launch mass production and mass deliveries of SSD-drives Samsung SM961 series, which are designed to be a replacement for the very popular among computer enthusiasts, not only OEM-customers, Series Samsung SM951. Samsung SM961 controller is based on the new Samsung Polaris and able to demonstrate a very impressive performance figures.
An interesting type of memory, or rather, Toggle Mode version interface on which it communicates with the eight-channel controller Samsung Polaris.
Information about the new product were accidentally released ahead of time by online trading company RamCity: volume, high-speed characteristics, performance and price.
Pre-orders version 256, 512 GB and 1 TB prices 119.99, 209.99 and 429.95 pounds, depending on the volume. 128 GB version is expected later.
The price is much lower than Samsung 950 Pro (for example, 512 GB worth £ 259.99 against £ 209.99 SM961 for the same volume). This positioning makes Samsung SM961 much more attractive solution for enthusiasts. It is possible, Samsung SM961 expects last year's success of the Samsung SM951, when there appeared some recent hype, leading to a shortage of storage in retail at first. It is based on the SM951 (replacing the flash memory) built in the future Samsung Samsung 950 Pro. It
is logical to expect that the company will do the same here.
