SoftBank Group Japan Corporation buys British mobile developer (and not only) processors ARM Holdings company for 24.3 billion pounds (more than $ 32 billion), according to news agency Reuters. It turns out that each share has been bought by ARM 17 pounds.
So far, the official details were not disclosed, but in any case, the world's media have already named this acquisition the largest deal of its kind in Europe. It is reported that the purchase contributed to the recent referendum on the withdrawal of Great Britain from the European Union, because it weakened the pound sterling, and made purchasing more profitable.
SoftBank Group, engaged in telecommunications, including the owner of telecom operators in Japan and the United States, plans to keep the existing vector of development, business unit management and ARM. It is also planned to double the staff in the UK in the coming years, as well as increase the number of jobs in other countries. ARM's head office must stay in Cambridge.
In any case, we recall that the ARM technology are used in most mobile devices. Although the company itself does not produce chips, it licenses the architecture of processor cores and other intellectual property from various manufacturers, including Qualcomm, Samsung and MediaTek.
