Recently intel company decided to talk about architectural update in nehalem generations processors , which will appear in the fourth quarter of the present year. These processors will obtain the divided cache in the third level with capacity up to 8 mb., and the second cache level will be individual for each core, its capacity will be 256 KB.
We start from the frequency of high-end bloomfield models which will appear in the end of the present year - these four core processor will operate at 3.2 GHz frequency . They will support three-channel DDR 3-1333 memory .
The more accessible bloomfield models can work at lower frequencies, in this case they will be support only DDR 3-1066 memory , and the system bus QPI frequency will be also lowered. Since nehalem generation processors will possess high operation speed in comparison with Penryn due to architectural changes, there is no need for high frequencies . The existing 3.2 GHz will be completely sufficient for retaining the balance performance and energy consumption.
Associate also assumes dual core desktop (Havendale) and mobile (Auburndale) processors nehalem generation will have 4 mb cache in the third level, which will be divided between core. However, servers processors ( beckton ) with eight cores can obtain up to 24 mb divided cache in the third level. Related Products :
