In March last year, Samsung has launched the first in the industry to mass production of computer memory with 10nm-class standards (in fact Samsung began producing 18-nm DRAM chips). To conditionally release 10-nm memory is soon going to the company SK Hynix. According to sources Etnews Site, SK Hynix has recently completed development of the first generation 10-nm process, codenamed 1x and already has experienced with the new silicon memory chips. For mass production of DRAM chips using the process technology 1x company should begin in the second quarter of 2017.
Process technology 1x is the first in a series of 10-nm process technology SK Hynix. In parallel, the company carried out the active development of the next in the series' 10-nm "process technology code-named 1y and, according to informants, recruited a team to develop the process technology 1z. If SK Hynix is really within a specified time to start issuance of DRAM process technology using the 1x, then it will reduce the backlog from Samsung DRAM on release workability with a half years to one year. By the way, Micron company is reported to specialized resources, still can not implement a process technology for DRAM 2z release.
Reducing the scale of process technology for the production of the memory will allow to increase the volume of output of chips from each wafer and in the future will make them cheaper for the manufacturer.
