Major automakers are now using two ways of creating an autonomous control systems of vehicles: one develops their own, and attract partners. Increasingly, automakers are demonstrating decisiveness, betting or a young company or Giants new era included in one holding with Google Waymo, recently received the structural independence.
As reported by Reuters, the Japanese company Honda becomes the second partner Waymo among automakers, following the example of Fiat Chrysler. The Japanese automaker also in the home market is the third largest, has enlisted the support of overseas partner "just in case". As explained by Honda representatives , the company ceases to develop "autopilot" in-house and co-operation with Waymo just give her a choice among the technical methods of achieving this goal.
Previously, Honda had predicted that it could create a "complete autopilot" in 2020. Now the Japanese manufacturer declares its readiness to provide Waymo prototypes of vehicles for which it will be possible to work out software control algorithms by the American partner. Fiat Chrysler will do the same.
