This spring IBM company reported about the successes in the preparation of 32 nm product. In this case IBM will use materials with high value dielectric constant (high- k) and transistors with metallic lock. The series production of 32 nm hardware can appear in the second-half of 2009.
It was considered that IBM will be able to propose storage cells, released on 22 nm technology, approximately at the beginning of 2009. Let us recall that storage cells are a type of SRAM for creating a more complex semiconductor products.
The beginning of their production within the new technological process usually speaks, that the release of processors on the new technology can be fixed in the near future. Yesterday IBM company officially reported that it succeeded in obtaining the first operational storage cell, released on 22 nm technology with the use of 300 mm silicic plates at its factory in New York state.
The area of this storage cell is equal to 1/10 square micrometer. Note in this case the first storage cell, obtained by Intel company using the 45 nm technical process, had an area of 0,346 square micrometers.
