The announcement of skulltrail platform , provided SLI support for Intel chipset with the use of two chips nForce 200 SLI. This solution was not advantageous due to the high price and the low speed , skulltrail platform did not become popular; however, this SLI support model was postponed in the preparation stage for bloomfield announcement and Intel x58 chipset .
NVIDIA decided to improve the conditions, necessary for SLI support realization for x58 Intel chipset . Access to the SLI support for motherboard producers on base of Intel x58 chipset from now will be simplified.
It suffice to pay a certain license payment (which will be less than $30, required for nForce 200 SLI purchase ), and to send the motherboard model to the certification NVIDIA center . In this case motherboard will get a certain identification key (stored in the bios), which will inquire drivers with the attempt to include regime SLI. If this key is valid, then SLI regime will be included.
Thus this program acts only for Intel x58 chipset, but NVIDIA does not exclude the possibility of its expansion to LGA 775 and even AMD chipset . Related Products :
