Intel and AMD plan to release six-core processors. For Intel these are dunnington processors  , for AMD - istanbul processors  , which will appear in second-half of the following year. In the desktop segment , intel is also going to present processors with six core : code name westmere. In 2010 AMD will present magny-Cours processors with 12 core, they will be also released on 45 nm technology. In any event, Intel proved to be the first producer, who released six-core processors with monolithic crystal. yesterday intel presented dunnington processors  , which combined on one crystal six core penryn generation . Processors relate to MP 74xx xeon , they are oriented for multiprocessor servers. Intel asserts that the new processors are capable of increasing the speed by up to 50%, and also reducing the energy consumption level byo 10%. In one server with 16 socket can be placed up to 96 processor core. The characteristics of those processors are given below:   Xeon x7460 - > six core, frequency = 2.66 GHz, 1066 MHz bus, TDP=130 W, cache volume in the third level 16 mb., price $2729; Xeon e7450 - > six core, frequency = 2.4 GHz, 1066 MHz bus, TDP=90 W, cache volume in the third leve 12 mb., price $2301; Xeon e7440 - > four core, frequency = 2.4 GHz, 1066 MHz bus, TDP=90 W, cache volume in the third leve 12 mb., price $1980; Xeon e7430 - > four core, frequency = 2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz bus,  TDP=90 W, cache volume in the third leve 12 mb., price $1391; Xeon e7420 - > four core, frequency = 2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz bus, TDP=90 W, cache volume in the third leve 8 mb., price $1177; Xeon l7455 - > six core, frequency = 2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz bus, TDP=65 W, cache volume in the third leve 12 mb., price $2729; Xeon l7445 - > four core, frequency = 2.13 GHz, 1066 MHz bus, TDP=50 W, cache volume in the third leve 12 mb., price $1980. Let us note that the two last processors will be supplied only in the following block. Yesterday intel also lowered the price of xeon l7345 (1.86 GHz) processor : from $2301 to $1498.
