AMD already promised to present the first 45 nm processors in the middle of November, and today this promise was materialized in the announcement of nine models shanghai, which work at frequencies from 2.3 to 2.7 GHz . Those processors are released on 45 nm technology using immersion lithograph - Intel company , for example, produces its 45 nm processors on dry technology, and it is going to use immersion lithograph only within the 32 nm technical process. In the first quarter AMD will also release shanghai processors with ACP value not more than 55 W. It is important to note that the memory controller in shanghai processors supports dual-channel memory DDR 2-800, whereas 65 nm predecessors was satisfied only by DDR 2-667. Opteron processors with DDR- 3 support will be released only in 2010, and the socket F platform will continue to be developed - AMD plans in 2009 to present the six-core 45 nm processors Istanbul, which will be compatible with socket F. In the opinion of independent sources, shanghai processors on average is up to 20-25% faster than their 65 nm predecessors. We will not forget, that the contribution in this increase is also due to the increased by 200% cache volume in the third level, and also to the increased memory frequency (DDR 2-667 - > DDR 2-800). Nehalem architecture has numerous optimization, capable of giving to it forces in the server segment, but such Intel processors will be released only in the following year. The announcement periods of the 45 nm Deneb processors will be only in the first quarter 2009, and they will become a part of the new platform dragon. Besides the 45 nm processors phenom X4, this platform will unite the chipset AMD series 7xx and video card series radeon HD 4xxx.
