We already reported about Intel notice to not go above 1.65 v for the memory voltage. it was considered that the prolonged memory operation with high voltages can lead to the failure of processor.
In this case some memory producers do not care about these recommendations, and proposed the memory modules for Core i7 with up to 1.8 v. individual experimenters on base of personal experience shows that a short increase in memory voltage beyond the limits 1.65 v do not have a bad effects for core i7 processors.
The most interesting, that in Intel technical documentation , core i7 processors maximum voltage for the memory is generally equal to 1.875 v! Possibly, Intel examines some complementary factors of risk without recommending to exceed stress 1.65 v. Related Products :
