The 10 years old S3 graphics company, which was one of the market leaders , presented its new graphical solutions generation - Chrome 500. This new series differ from chrome 400 . In essence, S3 added support to 512 MB memory, against 256 MB in predecessor, and built-in support to displayPort interface . This card support directX 10.1, SM 4.1 and PCI express 2.0 bus. The memory bus is only 64- bit . The energy consumption level is 25 watts, and the recommended cost composes $44.95. Chrome 530 GT performance corresponds perhaps to the GeForce 8500GT. S3 Graphics declares that the new video card support directX 10.1+. ; this indicate a partial support of directX 11. The second interesting rumor is the possibility to use the graphic processors chrome 500 in multi-chip configurations. Thus, it is assumed that S3 Graphics can release the two- and even four chip video card on base of chrome 500 GPU in the higher price niches. The third rumor concerns the production of video card : S3 Graphics is assembled to produce video card for Russian market directly in Russia. This will reduce both the prime and final video card cost.It is assumed that chrome 500 will be supplemented with the video cards chrome 530 GTX and Chrome 530 GS. Related Products :
