The example to Hynix company proves, that with the passage to a new technical process the memory not only increases its frequency potential, but also reduces the energy consumption level. Furthermore, memory producer obtains the possibility to release denser microcircuits and to economize on the prime cost.
Elpida company stated today about the mass production of memory microcircuits DDR- 3 on 50 NM technology (will start in January- March 2009 ). New 50 NM technical process with the use of immersion lithograph and wavelength equipment (193 NM) allows to release memory microcircuits with area less than 40 sq. mm. besides standard voltage 1.5 v, the new DDR3 memory microcircuits from Elpida are capable to work with 1.35 v and 1.2 v. Reduction in the energy consumption reaches 50% in comparison with memory microcircuits , produced on 70 NM technology.
The operational frequencies of 50 NM memory from Elpida lies over a wide range: from DDR 3-800 to DDR 3-2500. Due to the high frequencies and low default voltages, Elpida memory new generation can find use not only in LGA 1366 platform , but also in server segment, or mobile devices. Related Products :
