Different games can use the potential of multi-core processors with different degrees . Some games scale well the speed after transfer from a dual to four core processor (E8600 vs Q9400), but others just love Mhz's.
Associate conducted a study, in order to estimate the optimization degree of drivers for AMD and NVIDIA video card under multi-core processors using directX 9 and DirectX 10 . If under DirectX 9 AMD drivers allow to obtain a certain speed increase with the increase of processor core, then under directX 10 the boost is even higher . For NVIDIA drivers under DirectX 9 the speed increase is noticeable, but under directX 10 this boost is even higher , and it can reach 21-24%. This result is achieved by drivers optimization .
AMD in this case recognize the interpretation above, and it is ready to present in the first quarter 2009 the new version catalyst drivers , which will allow directX 10 video card to effectively use the resources of four core processors. According to Intel representatives estimations , up to 25-40% load on the central processor from games are formed by direct 3d and video card driver . If we distribute this load between several cores, the processor resources will be used more effectively. Related Products :
