The displayPort interface , which becomes the successor of DVI, gradually conquers popularity. The appropriate ports are frequently available in video cards , monitors, motherboards and notebooks. VESA already prepares the specification Of displayPort 1.2.
DisplayPort 1.2 provides a reverse compatibility with previous ports specification : DisplayPort 1.1a. The interface capacity was doubly increased , and now one channel can transfer information with a speed of up to 5.4 Gbit/s, there are four channels .
DisplayPort 1.2 will ensure a sufficient capacity for the 3840 X 2160 resolution and 30- bit color.
Moreover this useful update will allow to connect up to four monitors with 1920 X 1200 resolution to only one displayPort output. With the resolution 2560 X 1600 the numbers of monitors are decreased to two.
The speed of auxiliary channel will be increased in DisplayPort 1.2.
