The world-wide sales volume of microprocessors for PC was decreased in the fourth quarter last year, as assert IDC analysts . In their opinion, a drop in the demand will continue also in first half of the present year.
In th ethree final 2008 months , producers were possible to sell up to 17,0% less processors than in the third quarter and to 11,4% less than the same period a year ago. In terms of money this corresponds to a decrease in income by 18,0% for the last block and up to 22,2% in the year.The market volume in the absolute expression was 30,8 billion dollars.
The market distribution between producers in the fourth quarter appears as follows: Intel obtained 81,3%, AMD 17,7%. Let us note that in the third quarter these values composed 80,8% and 18,5%, and a year ago : 76,7% and 23,1% respectively. In other words, Intel is doing better than its competitor.
In the fourth quarter Intel ensured 89,1% from all deliveries in the mobile segment, whereas the portion of AMD production composed only 10,2%. In the servers segment and work stations, these numbers were equal to 88,1% and 11,9%, while in the processors segment for desktop PC : 73,9% and 26,0%.
In the year as a whole the distribution in the mobile processors segment appears as follows: Intel 87,1%, AMD 12,1%. In the servers processors segment and working stations Intel could secure 86,6% of the market, AMD portion remained at 13,4%. Concerning microprocessors for desktop PC, Intel and AMD obtained 73,4% and 26,4% of the market .
