According the existing to the given moment unofficial information, videochip  g80 from NVIDIA will be released with the use of the well familiar 0.09 m  technical process. NVIDIA company is not planing To risk injecting new technical process for video chip with complex structure . From one side, the use of the 0.09 m  technical process give its pluses: the high level of release of suitable chips and the compressed periods release to the market. From other side, this generates  minuses: the level of energy consumption can be sufficiently  high and the increased area of  chip will increase in the prime cost in comparison with the version, which  use  more than one technological n. however, technical process of new generation can negatively influence the prime cost of chip production   because of the low release level  so the passage to the new technical process is not always optimal from a economic  view. The support Of directX 10 requires large transistor budget and increases the core area. As is known, G80 will support DirectX 10, although there is no adequate information about the architecture of the shader units of this chip : some people speaks about the unifield architecture and other insists on the use of closer to the classical architecture with the specialization of distribution in the units  . In any case,  we learn sufficiently soon - the announcement Of geForce 8800 GTX is planed for 7-8 November. British associates assert that the  Of g80 will be larger than the chip  r600. In the ironic form they even make NVIDIA as leader, it s leadership in the sizes race :-). Naturally, large area video chip plays against the possibilities of the prime cost  reduction , but this does not mean that G80 will cost more expensive than R600. we risk to assume that  r600 will be 0.08 m chip - the periods of announcement (February  2007). Even if the core area r600 and the level of release of chips on 0.08 m to technical process will play into the ATI benefit , the use of  512- bit memory bus can becaume large advantages. This wide bus will increase the prime cost not only of the packaging  chip, but also design and printed-circuit board. In a word, to speak about the balance of advantages and deficiencies In g80 and R600 from view of the potential prices reduction it s far early. We hope that the resulted products will be in the range no more than $649 but this will not prevent  ATI and NVIDIA from releasing  inexpensive video cards with directX 10 support  in the following half-year.
