Lynnfield four core processors will appear in the third quarter present year. The range of default frequencies will lie within the limits from 2.66 GHz to 2.93 GHz, and the turbo boost technology will allow the most loaded core to be overclocked to 3.2-3.6 GHz. The processors TDP level will not exceed 95 W, the design concept LGA 1156 will require the use of new motherboard on base of chipset Intel fifth series. Many cooler with LGA 1366 support can work also in LGA 1156 motherboard.
Associate reported about the prices of this generation processor :
- Lynnfield 2.66 GHz - > $196;
- Lynnfield 2.8 GHz - > $284;
- Lynnfield 2.93 GHz - > $562.
If we consider that these processors will require the acquisition of new motherboard , then the price $196 does not seem such attractive. LGA 1156 processors are capable of working with dual channel DDR- 3, but not with three-channel as Core i7.
However, in the third quarter this year will appear the mobile processors clarksfield with four cores, which also relate to nehalem generation :
- Clarksfield 1.6 GHz - > $364;
- Clarksfield 1.73 GHz - > $546;
- Clarksfield XE 2.0 GHz - > $1054.
The Two last models will have 8MB cache in the third level, the low-end models will be limited to only 6 MB cache. For all three processors, the support of hyper-Threading technologies is provided , TDP level does not exceed 35 W. Clarksfield processors will find use only in powerful productive notebook. The extreme edition version will possess a free multiplier.
