AMD with the aid of selected processor phenom II X4 955 Black edition reached new limit in extreme overclocks, this processor model was overclocked to frequencies more than 7 GHz. As it is explained, to these frequencies was overclocked only one processor copy , which could not preserve long-term stability in this regime.
AMD did not step back from the idea .
The highest frequency, at which it was possible to pass CPU- Z validation was 6893 MHz with all four cores active and dual-channel memory operation mode . For stability in the tests, it was possible to attain at the frequencies from 6.5 GHz to 6.75 GHz, depending on the intensity of load.
It is interesting, that Intel platform during these days also reached a new overclock record - the processor celeron D 352 (3.2 GHz) cedarMill core stepping C1 was overclocked under liquid nitrogen to 8116 MHz, which corresponds to the second place in the world record's rating of hWbot.
