The motherboard asus P6X58 premium was used by the producer on computex 2009 exhibitions for the demonstration of SATA-600 interface possibilities. The support of this interface was demonstrated also by gigabyte company. If the first motherboard was based on Intel x58 chipset, then the second used the newer Intel p55. Both products used a discrete controller SATA-600, integrated to the motherboard .
Some producers fear to use SATA-600 controllers, referring to possible speed problems , caused by the limited capacity of PCI express x1 interface. At least, the first controllers generation silicon image is connected to the system only through PCI express x1, which limits the capacity to the value 250 mb/s. Furthermore, there are no HDD with SATA-600 support on the market . As reports associate, the motherboard asus P6X58 premium was equipped with USB 3.0 controller using a chip from NEC production . | ||
