At the last quarterly conference AMD company representatives confirmed their readiness to release the first 40 nm video chip with directX 11 support in the third quarter this year.
Associate reported that the video chip RV870 will have a 384- bit memory bus . Thus, the memory bus width will be one and a half times more than in RV770 and RV790. This will allow not only to raise the capacity with the use of GDDR-5 memory, but also to ensure the proper performance of the memory system in case of young video card with GDDR-3 microcircuits . It is known that the area of RV870 video chip will exceed 300 sq. mm. The quantity of stream processors, according to preliminary data, will be increased approximately one and half times. Let us recall that RV790 and RV770 have 800 stream processors. According to associates, the announcement of RV870 is planned on September 10, and the price range for video card on base of this chip is from $249 to $399. Related Products :
