While the majority of developers were concentrated on the creation of motherboard for the new processors Intel lynnfield, MSI company presented a new Socket AM3 motherboard on chipset NVIDIA nForce 980a SLI. This is one of the rarest cases, when new motherboard brings the support of 3-Way SLI for AMD platform .
The quantity of motherboard with Socket AM3 and SLI support is small, and MSI decided to remove this deficiency with MSI NF980-G65.
The power-supply system has - five-phase, it works according to the diagram 4+1, and for the support of 3-Way SLI answers the chip NF200, accessible lines PCI- E 2.0 for video card : x16+x16+x8. This motherboard supports all existing now AM3 processors, including those with TDP = 140 W. Like all AM3 motherboards , it supports only DDR-3 memory and has 4 slots .
