Intel Conroe Nforce 590
THERE ARE RUMOURS going around that the next generation of nForce chipsets for Intel have problems with supporting Intel's next generation Conroe.
This actually reminded us of a certain case that proved to be true the infamous Pentium D 820 on the original Nforce 4 Intel Edition.
However, the information cannot be farther from truth. On E3 show held last week in Los Angeles, nVIDIA was happy to show Dell's XPS machine running a Conroe CPU on an nForce 590 Intel Edition motherboard equipped with two GeForce 7950GX2 boards, e.g. QuadSLI.
So, there you have it. When Nvidia launches its nForce 500 series for Intel, you can be certain that it will have no problems with Conroe in the socket. In fact, there are some interesting features that are being prepared. Codenamed Trinity or Tritium, the feature will be actually marchitecturally named LinkBoost, as it is featured on many motherboard boxes that are currently leaking on the net. In fact, there is a nice performance bonus when running a LinkBoost-enabled graphics cards on nForce 590 instead of running it on i975X or any other upcoming chipset from Intel or other competitors.
We'll know more details on May 23rd, when the official launch of AMD Socket AM2 and all of its supporting products commences
