Our first experience with the motherboard Ga -965p-ds3 on the base of new chipset Intel P965 was failed due to the fact that the system bus "fsb " could not go over 360 MHz in any case.Of course for processors Conroe with their low multiplier this 360 MHz is pretty low. Ythe leaders of system bus overclocking "FSB" remained the motherboards
based on i975X chipset .
some day ago, in the gigabyte site apwared a new bios version "F 2" this version can be downloaded here
the screen shot show that there is some improvement done at the fb level with new f2 version
. And actually, the motherboard
Gigabyte Ga -965p-ds3 from the bios version F2 was
able to go as high as 483-503 MHz fsb and this is usufull for processors Core 2 Duo
E6300 (1.86 GHz) and Core 2 duo E6600 (2.4 GHz)
This it is already completely sufficient to max out "in air" low-end Conroe processors ,
which has multiplier 7x or 8x. motherboard with this bios version allows to increase the north bridge voltage by 0.3 v, it is not
othe hifgest possibility, but it is sufficient for overclocking air cooled conroe processor
:).
note that the examined copies of Ga -965p-ds3 motherboards were based on C1 revision of chipset Intel P965, but
in the beginning of September will appeare revision C2. which will be as a renewed revision,
and for sure will have higher overclocking and fsb capability.
