We already noted the good overclocking potential of  Gigabyte Ga -965p-ds3 motherboards with the last bios versions. Without any modifications, by a simple increase in  northern bridge voltage "option is availble in the bios "  it succeeded to raise the bus frequency  to 480-500 MHz. This was completely  sufficient for  Conroe processors overclocking with the use of air cooler  to get the frequencies up to 4.0 GHz. Generally speaking motherboards on the base of chipset Intel P965  studied showed good result; therefore as the following object  to analyse we selected the  Gigabyte Ga -965-dq6 motherboard, which is more expensive product on the base of chipset Intel P965.  motherboard come with good cooling and should be oriented for amazinging overclock. first  experiments  was with  unofficial SLI  regime  :). From the first attempt after the installation ,the motherboard was capable of  470 MHz without any problems. unsing ClockGen utility allowed to raise the bus frequency  to 475-483 MHz. Strictly, screnn shot was with the bus frequency of 488 MHz, but about the stable work for this configuration was far to be true. The newer bios versions (last version on the official site  is : F2) has for sure improved the overclocking abilities of the motherboard  Gigabyte Ga -965p-dq6. By the way, this motherboard is already availble in the market, the  price is equal to $240. Those desiring to save   $60 they can  look at  Gigabyte Ga -965p-ds3, which is also overclocked well,. By the way, its cooling system must be in inferior on   effectiveness to the one used in  Ga -965p-dq6 motherboard. This is explained price for such motherboard but consediring lower model as Ga -965p-ds3 is look somehow overpaid for the remaining functional possibilities. there is also Asus P5W DH Deluxe motherboard on the base of chipset Intel i975X ,it was capable to overclock ofter the northbridge voltmod  and cooling to  500 MHz in fsb: Perhaps, this resembles once more, that for  successful Conroe processors overclocking u need necessarily to raise the voltage on your chipset but be worry to not finnsh up with a damaged motherboard. standard motherboard on the base of chipset nVidia nForce 590 sli Intel Edition. has, a limitation in the fsb overclocking capability .it is limited to 330-335 MHz , Related Products :
