The processors Intel core i7 assigned the new performance level for desktop systems. However, Intel corporation tries to popularize this CPU also in the mobile segment. The new calpella platform, is called to strengthen the positions on the notebook market. The official announcement of the new platform supposedly will take place on 23 September.
New platform will include the processors, i 7 -720QM, i 7 -820QM and i 7 -920XM, released on 45 nm technology. The default frequencies of those models will compose 1.6, 1.73 and 2.0 GHz respectively. In this case, they will support the turbo boost regime, which raise the frequencies to 2.8, 3.06 and 3.2 GHz respectively. All models have four independent core and support the technology hyper-Threading, which adds four additional virtual core for parallel tasks.
In order to check the performance of those CPU associates selected the notebook dell precision m6400 and Asus g71Gx. The first is equipped with the processor core 2 Quad QX9300, 8 gigas-byte DDR3 and video card NVIDIA quadro FX 3700M. The second uses the processor core 2 Quad q9000, 4 gigas-byte DDR3 and video card NVIDIA geForce GTX 260M. The new model used the processor core i 7 -820QM, 4 gigas-byte DDR3 and video card NVIDIA geForce GT 240M.
The total results proved to be on the average 1.64 times better in favor of the new platform. In this case, the system consumption was 74 watts with the maximum rating. This is less than the notebook on base Of q6600. The temperature of core i 7 -820QM processor in the rest state was located on the level of 37 degrees, while with the peak load it reached 77.
