The release of new Intel mobile platform , known under calpella, is planned to the third quarter 2009. Like other products, which relate to Intel nehalem processors generation , Calpella will get a new structure.
The Custom separation between the south and north bridges will disappear. The majority of north bridge components will be integrated in the processor, and the remaining function will be executed by ibex Peak- M. Ibex Peak- M Chipset will support next generation Intel processors (Clarksfield and Auburndale), which will have the built-in DDR3 memory controller . Auburndale, furthermore, will get the integrated GPU.
Calpella platform will support the wireless interfaces wi-Fi a/b/g/n (Puma peak) or WiMAX (Kilmer peak). Besides the mobile version ibex peak, Intel plan to release calpella version for corporate systems (Piketon), Home PC (Kings reek) and servers/ work stations (Foxhollow). The interesting special feature Of ibex peak for desktop systems is the presence of 64 lines PCI express (in X58 there is only 32).
