Yesterday on the conference on cloud calculations and Internet- infrastructure gigaOm structure in San- Francisco AMD company declared about the release of a new processor platform AMD opteron 4000. This is the first server platform, which from the beginning was developed for the satisfaction of specific requirements of cloud calculations, data processing centers with high multi-threading, and also for customers in the sphere of small and mid-sized business, who need extremely flexible, reliable and energy-saving one- and two-processor systems. The platform AMD opteron 4000 ensures 4- and 6 core processors with the required power less than 6 W per core, which reduce energy consumption to 24% in comparison with the previous generation platform, and it also double the quantity of servers with the same budget.
The processors AMD opteron 4100 will be suitable for special-purpose servers, since they use compact radiators, power units and fans, and also memory with the reduced default voltage stress, which contributes to an increase in the energy-effectiveness. The list of processors in this series and their cost are indicated below:
- Opteron 4184 (2.8 GHz, six core, 75 W) - > $316;
- Opteron 4180 (2.6 GHz, six core, 75 W) - > $188;
- Opteron 4130 (2.6 GHz, four core, 75 W) - > $125;
- Opteron 4122 (2.2 GHz, four core, 75 W) - > $99;
- Opteron 4176 HE (2.4 GHz, six core, 50 W) - > $377;
- Opteron 4174 HE (2.3 GHz, six core, 50 W) - > $255;
- Opteron 4170 HE (2.1 GHz, six core, 50 W) - > $174;
- Opteron 4164 EE (1.8 GHz, six core, 32 W) - > $698;
- Opteron 4162 EE (1.7 GHz, six core, 32 W) - > $316.
The processors lisbon are released on 45 nm technology and are equipped with dual-channel memory controller with DDR 3-1333 support. The hyperTransport 3.0 regime in comparison with socket F platform grew from 4.8 to 6.4 GT/s and only models with EE suffix will be satisfied by the regime 2.0 GT/s with interface hyperTransport 1.0 version.
