According to our associates, the prices of the disks in Taiwan since the beginning of the second quarter to the end of June fell by 10-20%.
The deliveries volume lags behind demand, beginning from the second quarter last year, which helped to retain prices at a comparatively high level up to the second quarter present year, when the economic crisis in Europe began to influence demand for personal computers. As the suppliers of finished PC began to decrease the estimations of delivery volume in the third quarter, HDD scarcity began to slow down. This led to a reduction in prices.
According to available data, the price of disk with the volume of more than 500 GB to the end of June fell on average by 20% in comparison with the level in the beginning of second quarter, and disk with 250 and 320 GB volume fell in price within the same period by 10%.
In the third quarter, the volume of deliveries will be preserved at the previous level.
