In the course of exhibition CES 2007 Intel demonstrated its concept V8, which technologically resembles the approach realized BY AMD in its platform quad FX.
Thus, the configuration has:
- Processors: 2 X intel xeon x5355 (4 cores processor, 2,66 GHz)
- Motherboard: Intel S5000XVN working stations, chipset intel 5000X
- Memory: FB-DIMM-667, 4 modules 512 mb.
- Video system: NVIDIA geForce 8800 GTX
- Disk massif: RAID 0 on the base of disks maxtor diamondMax 6L30050 SATA, with volume 1,3 TB
- Optical drive: TDK 420N
- Case: CoolerMaster cMStacker 830
- Power unit: Enermax galaxy DGA1000EWL
- WASPS: Windows XP professional SP2, DirectX 9.0c
As U see, nothing new but is simple as AMD, the components used are intended for powerful work stations, in usual desktop pc.
The summary cost of such computer monster is 4500 dollars. In this case we hardly should expect from this system records performance in games and many other applications, which are basic for home users. The quantity of programs, capable of obtaining noticeable addition in performance from 8 processor cores, is extremely small; therefore it is possible to assume that we will not soon see the systems on the base Intel V8 . Company sufficiently confidently holds leadership in the performance of processors for desktop pc and There is no special sense to release V8 before the appearance of native four core processors AMD which is planned for the third quarter.
