ARM company announced the processing core Cortex-A35, which will be one of the first solutions in terms of the improved energy efficiency of architectural ARMv8-A. Generally, ARM press release repeatedly calls the Cortex-A35 the most efficient core in the series: it consumes 90 milliwatts of power when operating at 1 GHz (in the case of 28-nm technology), and 20% passes precursor represented by Cortex-A7 on the performance level of 32-bit applications. In comparison with the Cortex-A53 core consumes 33% less power and occupies 25% less space in the silicon.
Cortex-A35 supports big.LITTLE, can perform both 32- and 64-bit instructions, as well as a full set of cryptographic functions. ARM hopes that the Cortex-A35 at least repeat the success of Cortex-A7 and find application in more than one billion mobile and embedded devices.
It is expected that the partners will release ARM SoC incorporating the core Cortex-A35, in 2016, and one of the first to adopt new product will be MediaTek company .
