The arrangement of forces on the market for contract semiconductor microcircuits production begins to change.
Founder and chief analyst Future Horizons shared their considerations about further development trends of semiconductor branch. The industry can encounter situation of scarcity of capacities production, since many producers forewent own factories (for example, AMD), but contract producers cannot build sufficient factories due to the limited financing and simultaneously growing demand.
In 2011 the 6-8% gain for capital construction and production update can not be sufficient in order to cover the need for microcircuits in 2012. Even now average load level of TSMC production capacities is equal to 90%, and on the foremost technical processes it reaches 98%.
The gain volume of microcircuits production in comparison with the period of beginning of crisis in the third quarter 2008 for the first time was high. From other side, in the crisis months the producers were forced to reduce expenditures for production expansion.
