We already reported that intel company planned to describe about the prototype of processor with 80 cores in the middle of February, at conference international solid state circuits conference (ISSCC) 2007. The preliminary data about this experimental processor were already already published in our news. Today associate published new details about this processor, with code name Polaris. Let us first of all, again explain the destination of this processor: this of its kind multi core processor, in which Intel is assembled to add some of its ideas on the creation of polynuclear future processors . In the constant form Of polaris there will be no processor series . This working prototype consists of 80 cores with 3 sq. mm area for each, all are united on one crystal with area of 275 sq. mm in the matrix of 8 X 10 pieces. The maximum core quantity  was not determined, simply Intel entered in the crystal of the assigned area precisely 80 cores. These cores are sufficiently primitive they have two blocks of floating-point calculations, tiny caches, and also the routing block , which is connected with the adjacent cores in four directions. one communication channel, vertical, is left for the memory, which can lie on processor cores in the top additional layer. After gathering together 202 such processors, it is possible to reach the speed level in floating-point calculations, witch is higher than the most powerful super-computer of our days, which uses 65 536 dual cores processors. Intel Representatives assert that the growth of core number in present processors will be accompanied by acceptable performance scaling only if the processor core number exceeds 16 pieces. Then to increase the speed they have to increase the cache volume , change its structure, introduce additional commands collections . Note that Intel do not count on a large quantity of primitive processor cores in the ideology of processors development  , as it would be possible to think . Based on the example Of polaris intel company intends to work out the effective mechanisms of core interaction in processor, whereas the future real processors can contain the mixture of different cores - for example as AMD fusion. The intel processors , which unite different cores, will appear in 5-10 years, according to the estimations of company representatives .
