In the next year, Sony plans to introduce a new type of removable storage devices based on flash memory type NAND. This product will be called XQD, and the main application area will be cameras. The motivation for the development was the format SecureDigital (SD) limiting factor for cells of the upper price segment. Sony believes that the use of faster cards XQD advantageous way to allocate their cameras from competition.
