Quanta company , the world's largest contract notebook manufacturer, filed a lawsuit against AMD due to the faulty graphics processors. Quanta argues that the defective GPU does not meet the specs of thermal stability, which ultimately leads to inevitable failure, and therefore the company has suffered substantial losses. In addition, in the list of claims against AMD also there is violation of warranty conditions, unintentional misrepresentation, fraud and interference with contract terms.
AMD does not recognize the problem and note that the graphics processors are used in different laptops models from different manufacturers, with no problems .
The statement of claim was in the District Court (San Jose, CA) and is similar to NVIDIA Corporation situation in 2008. When NVIDIA had to pay 196 million dollars in compensation to notebook manufacturer.
