AMD officially presents the Radeon HD 7870 and Radeon HD 7850

It was assumed that AMD will present the range of graphics card series Radeon HD 78xx (Pitcairn) this week, and a press release appeared on the website of the company today.  Characteristics of Radeon HD 7870 and Radeon HD 7850 are already well known . So, the Radeon HD 7870 and Radeon HD 7850 will be available only on  19 March.  Radeon HD 7870 will cost $ 349, while Radeon HD 7850 - $ 249.  It became clear that the Radeon HD 7870 will not be offered at a price of $ 199 . Radeon HD 7870 has 1280 stream processors, 80 texture units, 32 raster block, 256-bit bus and 2 GB GDDR5 memory  .  The default video card frequency are equal to 1000/4800 MHz, it officially has the suffix GHz Edition, as the Radeon HD 7770.  The TDP limit in the technology PowerTune is set at around 190  w .Typical power consumption of graphics cards is equal to 175  w , Radeon HD 7870 is equipped with two six-power connectors and one connector to connect the CrossFire bridge. Radeon HD 7850 is limited to 1024 stream processors and 64 texture units, and other characteristics are same compared to the Radeon HD 7870.  Itself, Radeon HD 7850 has a different design - the length of printed circuit board is reduced compared to the Radeon HD 7870.  Finally, Radeon HD 7850 operates at  860/4800 MHz frequencies, TDP limit in the PowerTune is set at 150 watts.  Typical power consumption of graphics cards is equal to 130W.  Radeon HD 7850 is equipped with a single six-socket power plug and one CrossFire. The graphic processor architecture uses Pitcairn GCN, released on 28 nm technology, and puts about 2.8 billion transistors on an 212 sq. mm area  Video cards in this series support DirectX 11.1, PCI Express 3.0 technology and ZeroCore Power.  The latter allows to reduce power consumption in the resting state for up to three watts. Standard video card series Radeon HD 78xx have a port Dual-link DVI, one HDMI port and two output mini-DisplayPort.  Support for the second generation Eyefinity allows them to work simultaneously with six monitors.  Audio streams can be also displayed independently on multiple devices.
