Magnetic hard disks recently grew up in volumes and fell in price, which in certain degree contributed to increase interest  from the side of everyday audio and video technology developers  .Today western digital company presented the new hard disk family intended for this segment of market. Hard disk WD AV, are made in the 3,5- inch form factor, on the assertion of company, such disk are characterized by the increased reliability, low heat emission, energy consumption and by noise level . In this family we have models with volume from 80 to 500 Gb, 7200 rp/min and average access time is equal to  4,2 ms. Those new hard disk are made in two versions with interfaces EIDE and SATA. The special feature of hdd WD AV is the presence of head access ramp  : head is automatically removed from disk surface during overclock and when disk is inactive. In comparison with other disks , WD AV have better protection from the impacts in the non-operating state, they have the increased service plates period  . The declared time of failure is 1 mln. hours. Among other special features we note the technology intelliSeek, which allow  to reduce the number of displacements of the drive head, which, in turn, gives the possibility to reduce the noise level and energy consumption (as it is asserted, energy savings in comparison with other hdd can reach 60%).
