Power units producers are already ready to the appearance of video card with interface PCI express 2.0 and their energy consumption. In r600 based chip video card will be used the combination of octal and six-pin power connector.
Associates reported that NVIDIA calculated the recommended specifications of power units, which will ensure the work of future video card. These power units will be equipped with four octal pin (probably, “6+2” ) and two six-pin power connector . The majority of contemporary power units are even equipped with 8- pin power connector for video card but their number does not exceed two pieces. Why ideal power unit require many video card connector ? Most likely, NVIDIA calculates the power unit’s requirements, with the “physical SLI” configuration. Motherboard on base of chipset nForce 680i SLI are equipped with three slots for video card installation : two work in regime SLI, the third processes physical effects. Obviously, each of two SLI video card can use two 8- pin power connector (most likely we deal here with high end model with two-chip), and the less powerful third video card will use two 6- pin connector. If one considers that many contemporary power units have the modular cables connection system , the presence of additional connector for video card will hardly become for them overloading.. | ||
